SKYCITY
SKYCITY is an iconic NZ landmark and features world-class entertainment and hospitation in Auckland including hotels, casinos, restaurants, bars, theatres and of course Auckland’s Sky Tower
Goals
SKYCITY needed to build an app in a month just ahead of the Rugby World cup that was hosted in NZ to cater to the many tourists who needed to get information and make bookings to restaurants and SKYTOWER. The added challenge was the very small timeline in which to get the app ready by with the added challenge of not having APIs available.
Result
With a very tight deadline looming we had to think of out of the box solutions. We developed our own CMS with APIs that would enable the SKYCITY app to get content and make it updateable. The app interface was designed to showcase the amenities in a 3D carousel along with a unique feature that allowed favourite services to be pinned to the home screen. The app enabled users to browse through the Hotels, amenities and services offered and also allowed users to make bookings to the Restaurants and SKYTOWER directly from the app. The app was released in time for the World cup.
SKYCITY Auckland decided to launch an iPhone app in time for RWC 2011. Although the deadlines were tight Moa Creative produced a very functional, well received app on time and budget. The design leadership the team provided was excellent. We are engaging Moa to extend this application and will also look to use the team to help us deliver iPhone apps for other SKYCITY properties.
